May is for Tulips

May in Ottawa is for TULIPS. The Tulip Festival starts early May and officially kicks off spring into action with hundreds of thousands blooming tulips spread out across the city. One of my favorite places to see the tulips is Dow's Lake. I've been coming here to see the tulips since childhood. 

Every year I want to capture all of the tulips on camera. There are just so many of them and each one is even prettier than the last! Pictures never really do them justice though. The true beauty of these blooming flowers can only be fully seen in real life as the colors are truly magnificent! 

I have and will continue to capture the beauty of the Tulip Festival every year. My earliest photo memory of this place is back when I was about 8 years old when my mom would bring me and my brother here. I have a photo of us sitting in front of the tulips in the exact same spot as a photo from last year. Such great memories!  

 After visiting the tulips, this is a great place to take a break, enjoy a yummy ice cream cone, lay on the grass with a good book, and enjoy the sunshine :)

Spring has sprung and so have the bright colors! I love hot pink, so I'm glad it's one of this season's trends.

Warm weather is finally here and my heart is so happy :D
This weekend was filled with outdoor fun, including a 20km cycling trip with my lovebug around the city just for fun, some flower shopping and gardening to add some beautiful, colorful flowers in the yard, and the first bbq of the season! Oh sweet, sweet sunshine, how I missed you dearly!

Burgundy & green - with touches of gold. What's nice about spring are the longer days and stunning golden sunsets.
